Paul is currently an Education Warden at the Rising Sun Country Park in North Tyneside, and first became involved with the Friends through his passion for outdoor education and a love for High Borrans after several visits over the years whilst he was a teacher at Collingwood Primary School.

He has been involved with High Borrans since 1998, with his most memorable experience being his first encounter with caving which was challenging but also very enjoyable for both himself and the pupils.

Paul is a key player with the annual Young Leader’s Award and enjoys working with the participants during the summer residential at High Borrans. He hopes his organisational skills and enthusiasm will be of value to the charity. They certainly are!

Paul is a dedicated runner and has represented England several times. In 2013 he ranked number 1 in Britain for road running in the M55 age group, whilst in 2014 he won Gold for the British Masters Cross-Country Championships, as well as a team gold representing England in the British and Irish Masters Cross-Country Championships. As if that wasn’t enough, Paul was also the Triple North East Masters Champion for the road, trail and cross-country races in 2014.

He is currently preparing to defend his M55 British Masters Cross-Country title in March and hopes to be selected to run for England in Dublin in November 2015.
